The Holy Devi Mahatmya communicates to various levels and at various levels.

All sacred myths have various levels of truth:

First, the external cosmic level, that is often symbolic of an astronomical event or cosmic phenomenon.
Second is an inner-psychological level,
that symbolizes the play of various forces within the human mind.
Third is a transcendent level, that is indescribable in ordinary everyday language.
Fourth is a level that combines the previous three levels (external, internal, and transcendental) simultaneously into the paradoxical and varied nature of reality where no level is mutually exclusive,
co-existing simultaneously as one single mysterious and paradoxical phenomenon.

Through sincere recitation Of The Holy
Devi Mahatmya And The Blessings Of
The Divine Mother, a devotee may begin to realize the truth beyond the physical earth plane.

The death of the asura symbolizes
the death of asmita (ego),
which is the false-self or
limited ego awareness.
By Piercing With Her Spear,
The Divine Mother Relinquishes
the limited identity.
In losing this limited identity,
one gains An Unimaginable Greater One.

The Divine Mother's Victory
Over the asura Symbolizes
the realization Of The True Self,
the end of all multiplicity, and the steady experience Of Oneness
and the passage from
an ever-changing becoming
to A Pure Awareness Or Existence.

Through sincere worship, devotees can attain higher knowledge, If The Divine Mother So Blesses.

She Herself
Becomes The Creation.
