KALI MAI
The first Maa Kali Temple emerged in Central Trinidad during the 1950s. In the 1970s, the celebration Of Maa Kali experienced a rapid growth with the erection of numerous Temples throughout the island. The rituals of Maa Kali worship emphasize the unmediated, personal, spontaneous, and fluid relationship between the devotees and The Divine Mother, the immolation of goats and cocks, and the beating of drums. Some Temples also have female leaders affectionately known as ‘Tanti’ or Mother among the followers.
The Maa Kali Temple accepts those who are neither Hindu nor Indo-Trinidadian as visitors as well as staff members and ascetics. The worship of Maa Kali in Trinidad is not exclusive to Hindu population. The Benevolent Divine Mother Is An Affectionate Provider for all from every race and culture who seek refuge in Her.
